The Rwanda Animal Welfare Organization (RAWO) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), based in the Northern Province, Musanze district of Rwanda. RAWO has received official working permits from the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB). It comprises animal welfare enthusiasts – mainly, but not exclusively, veterinarians and public health professionals.
RAWO is dedicated to advancing animal welfare in Rwanda.
We use education and communication to engage the local community in the Five Freedoms (Five Needs) of animals.
We work with key stakeholders to ensure that animal welfare is always considered in local, regional and national decision-making.
We work towards ensuring the management of dog populations humanely.
We work for the attainment of sustainable development through improved environmental conservation and public health.
We investigate the implications of technology and prompt research on achieving better wellbeing of humans and animals.
