Environmental Conservation:
RAWO’s Environmental Conservation program focuses on protecting Rwanda’s natural ecosystems through sustainable land management, reforestation, and biodiversity restoration initiatives. The department works closely with communities to rehabilitate degraded landscapes, promote soil and water conservation practices, and strengthen the protection of forests, wetlands, and river ecosystems. Through community education, ecological training, and partnerships with local leaders and institutions, RAWO empowers citizens to adopt environmentally responsible practices that safeguard natural resources for future generations.
Climate Change Mitigation:
In its Climate Change Mitigation efforts, RAWO supports actions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and build resilient livelihoods across Rwanda. Key activities include promoting climate-smart agriculture, expanding tree-planting and agroforestry programs, encouraging clean energy adoption, and advocating for low-carbon community development. RAWO also leads awareness campaigns on climate risks, supports research on environmental sustainability, and collaborates with national stakeholders to enhance local participation in Rwanda’s climate agenda. Through these interventions, RAWO contributes to a greener, more climate-resilient society while enhancing the well-being of communities nationwide.
