RAWO’s Contribution to Humane Dog Population Management

RAWO (Rwanda Animal Welfare Organization) plays a leading role in promoting the welfare of dogs and responsible dog ownership across Rwanda. Through its programs, RAWO has implemented sustainable and humane strategies to manage dog populations, improve public safety, and prevent diseases such as rabies.

Key Contributions:

Vaccination and Health Interventions

  • Dogs are vaccinated against rabies and other common diseases.
  • Deworming and routine veterinary care are provided to enhance dog health.
  • Community Awareness and Education
  • RAWO conducts training and sensitization workshops for communities on responsible dog ownership, including proper feeding, shelter, and care.
  • Promotes understanding of dog behavior and prevention of dog bites.

  • Encourages dog owners to register their pets for accountability and easier monitoring.
