Animal welfare awareness, community education and trainings
The Rwanda Animal Welfare Organization (RAWO) is dedicated to advance animal welfare and One Health in Rwanda. We provide specialized training programs for livestock farmers and animal health professionals, equipping them with practical skills regarding how they can fulfill Five Freedoms of animals. These capacity‑building initiatives not only enhance animal welfare and health but also contribute to public health, environment conservation, food safety, sustainable and ethical farming practices, and improved livelihoods for Rwandan communities. By empowering farmers and veterinary professionals, RAWO ensures that animal welfare is prioritized at national level while supporting the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources agenda. Through our Animal Welfare Awareness, we are driven by the Five Freedoms of Animals including
- Freedom from hunger and thirst
- Freedom from discomfort
- Freedom from pain, injury, or disease
- Freedom to express normal behavior
- Freedom from fear and distress
